What's in store for 2024: writing, watercolour, wellness and more.

The Coolah Creek Newsletter: Feburary 2024

Ok everyone, here we go for 2024. I am hoping I can get these little newsletters out from time-to-time to keep you in the loop with happenings at ‘Coolah Creek’.

I hope this newsletter finds you all well and rested after the summer with hopefully some down time spent with family and or friends. We have just had the most glorious two weeks off-farm, taking in some much needed R&R beach side, with a bit of sunshine and rain, salt water, sand, lots or reading, yummy dinners and some truly beautiful friends.

I have a wonderful year planned workshop wise and have a few more to finalise but wanted to let you know what's in store on the Coolah Creek workshop calendar thus far. If you’ve been planning some you time, maybe to try something new this year or have considered furthering your skills with painting, writing or a wellness weekend - let’s make it happen!

Barbara Sweeney Food Memoir Writing Workshop

Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th May

First up I am very excited to welcome Barbara Sweeney to the workshop space here at Coolah Creek. I don't know about you but I have a wonderful collection of recipes and memories that I would love to put down on paper in a way that correlates my food memories for the generations to come.

Mine will have helpful hints, tips and tricks passed down from my super practical, efficient, very sensible beautiful mum and bits and pieces learnt throughout my time on this planet.

What will yours have? I really can't wait for Barbara to guide us through and create something that will be unique to you and your life.

Monica Moore’s Wellness Retreat and Reset

Sunday 19th May

I will welcome Monica Moore back in mid-May, I love the way Mon rolls, she is realistic and in touch with this world we live in. This really is a fantastic opportunity to have some ‘you’ time, nourishing food, explore your movement and breathing and gather and learn with like-minded people. A wonderful little reset for all those who want a special day and maybe, if you can squeeze it in, a night as well (limited spots).

Gillian Hook Watercolour Workshop

Friday 31st May to Sunday 2nd June

Next up I will welcome the incredible talent of Gillian Hook back for a beautiful three days of water colour painting. Gillian is really the most extraordinary teacher. She will unfold the mystery that surrounds the colour palette and then demonstrate the art of brush and water techniques.

You will pick it up and be surprised by your ability under the guidance and cleverness of Gillian as your teacher. Before you know it, you will be tackling still lives and landscapes with way more confidence and yearning to paint more and more.

And then we await the winter at Coolah Creek…

The winter will no doubt come in fast in June and we will go quietly about our days getting all those winter jobs done inside the garden fence at Coolah Creek. A great time to plan and continue with the never-ending maintenance of the Coolah Creek homestead and garden. It will never all be done and that’s ok, we will enjoy this time to ponder and plan, primp and preen.

Come September we will fling open the doors again and welcome Spring, some warmer weather, watch the garden unfurl, popping with colour and new growth. It really is a joy to come into the next season and makes you appreciate the little things you’ve missed.

When the sun does rise over the creek, we have all sorts of marvelous workshops on the horizon…

I have a few other events in the pipeline, so I look forward to sharing details with you when my next newsletter hits your mailbox.

May the year go slowly and calmly for us all. Don't forget to breathe deeply, smell the roses, smile, tell someone you love them and be mindful of your footprint on this amazing earth we live on.

Till next time, tally ho.
